About Karen

Karen C. Pruitt is a watercolor artist from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Her subjects include wildlife, waterfowl, and songbirds in their natural settings. Noted for her use of vibrant colors in a realistic approach with close attention to detail, her paintings are collected by people throughout the country. Since begininng her career as a professional artist in 1990, Karen has won numerous awards and frequently exhibits in art shows throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. She has also produced limited edition prints of nineteen of her paintings.

News and Updates

New Prints - Karen recently reproduced one of her paintings as a giclee. This exciting printing technique uses pigment inks which produce high quality images of vibrant color. Assateague Lighthouse, as seen to the left, is available in an edition of 200 and is printed on cotton-rag watercolor paper. A small number will also be reproduced on canvas. News - The American Diabetes Association chose Marsh Morning, as seen below, to be the cover of the 2009 Gift of Hope calendar. Marsh Morning was also the artwork for the month of March. The calendar is available on the ADA web site and in the Gift of Hope catalog.
